Director Internal Audit

- Oversee development of annual departmental plans and audit programs.\n- Provide policy and technical advice to the accounting officer and audit team.\n- Guide interpretation of treasury instructions and circulars.\n- Carry out staff appraisals and assign work to subordinates.\n- Check audit implementation against regulations and procedures.\n- Conduct regular quality control checks.\n- Analyse draft reports and audit replies for compliance with standing rules and regulations.\n- Approve audit work and reports before distribution and implementation.\n- Coordinate audit strategy formulation based on the ministry's strategic plan.\n- Review audit plans and draft operational guidelines for internal audit staff.\n- Assess internal audit reports and approve external audit trips.\n- Review weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual internal audit reports.\n- Approve resources, participants, and training materials for audit staff.\n- Guide accounting officers, the audit committee and executive management on required improvements.

Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent; full PSPA (2) / CIS / ACCA / CIMA qualification or equivalent; Master’s Degree in Forensic Auditing, Accounting, Corporate Governance, Business Administration, Management or equivalent; at least 2 years’ working experience as Deputy Director in the relevant field; membership of a recognized professional accounting or auditing body.

Leadership, analytical skills, communication, knowledge of public service accounting and regulations, PFMS, proficiency in accounting software including SAP, computer literacy.
